Louisiana Pollywogs - Manchac Chicken Shack
Louisiana Songs for Kids!

Manchac Chicken Shack
Performed by Gregg Ostrick

It's a real quick drive when you take I-55, past Middendorf's, it's a block from Reno's Wharf. You're gonna take a right at the yellow traffic light. And cross the railroad tracks you'll see yellow shack. It's the Manchac Chicken Shack. It's right around the back. So plan to make some tracks. To the Manchac Chicken Shack!

There's gonna be a dance, so come and take a chance. Don't you be a chicken, 'cause the band will be a-pickin'. And dancin' all around makin' clucky chicken sounds, some will be a-talkin', but most will be a-squawkin'. Lots of birds are comin' from all around the place, and I would really love to see your little chicken face. If you meet me there, we can talk about the weather, and when it's time to dance, we can shake our tail feathers, at the Manchac Chicken Shack. It's right around the back. So plan to make some tracks. To the Manchac Chicken Shack!

Chickens came here long ago along with Pilgrim folks, but they had no humor 'cause they told no chicken jokes. What's a hen weigh you may ask, it's about two pounds. Chickens walk in circles just to get around. The chicken caller calls, just one call that's all. It happens once a year at the annual chicken ball. If you have no partner, you can ask a phantom, even if you choose an imaginary bantam at the Manchac Chicken Shack. It's right around the back. So plan to make some tracks. To the Manchac Chicken Shack!

When you dance around the old man's incubator, watch out where you step or you'll make some mashed potaters! Chickens take a dust bath to keep them clean and dry, and when they fall asleep, they dream that they can fly.
