Louisiana Pollywogs - Oscar de la Oyster
Louisiana Songs for Kids!

Oscar de la Oyster
Performed by Don Hoffman

Oscar de la Oyster wants to be a muscle man, but genetics make his build look a bit more like a clam. He's Oscar de la Oyster, Louisiana muscle man, and all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood fans.

At the age of only three weeks old, Oscar got himself attached to a bunch of friendly oysters, in a great big oyster batch. Now he hardly ever moves, and he's slower than a snail. He might as well be hammered down with a big ole rusty nail. He's Oscar de la Oyster, Louisiana muscle man, and all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood fans.

Oscar gets his share of food, 'cause he's got the muscle power. Filters food from H2O, 4 gallons in a single hour. Now livin' like a hermit sure can be a ho-hum life Perhaps one day he'll find himself an underwater wife. He's Oscar de la Oyster, Louisiana muscle man, and all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood fans.

Then one day Oscar saw this girl - she was livin' 2 shells over. That Oscar always thought himself - an aqua Cassanover. So Oscar found a grain of sand and he made himself a pearl. Now it's not a diamond necklace, folks, but it should impress the girl. He's Oscar de la Oyster, Louisiana muscle man, and all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood fans.

So Oscar rolled the pearl on over to the lovely girl shellfish. Though Oscar was a bit self-centered, he's not at all selfish. The temperature was 74 when they fell in love that day. Now there are lots more oysters in Louisiana bays. He's Oscar de la Oyster, Louisiana muscle man, and all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood fans. And all across the USA, he's got plenty of seafood faaaaans.
